michael brainard bio

     Michael Brainard was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Orange County, California,
where he began acting in high school. He continued his acting education at Cal State
Fullerton, Fullerton College and the Strasberg Institute in Los Angeles..
     He is best known for his roles on the daytime dramas: "All My Children" (Joey
Martin) and "Santa Barbara" (Ted Capwell). "Santa Barbara" has aired in over 40
countries world wide. In his latest television role, he played the supporting role of CIA
Agent Alex Koris on the short lived My Network TV's "American Heiress" .
     Recently, Michael completed the feature thriller "Killing Ariel" with directors,
David J. Negron Jr. and Fred Calvert. In it he plays a murderous adulterer
slighted by a demon and bent on revenge, delivering his first starring role in a
feature film. Killing Ariel is being distributed by Shoreline Entertainment Inc.
Michael’s latest cinematic work can be seen in the feature film, “The Onion Movie”, due
out on DVD on June 3rd, 2008. This film, from the creative team of David Zucker and
the guys at “The Onion” parody newspaper, is a blast! Michael plays a cop busting a
wannabe hip-hopster in this highly anticipated sketch comedy movie.
     In addition to acting, Michael is a writer. He writes plays as well as screenplays. "A
Murder of Crows" and "Looking for Some Posse" are two plays
written and directed by Michael that have been produced in the L.A. area. Michael's
screenplay, "Lookin' For Some Posse" (2005) was made into an award winning short
film and has played in film festivals around the world as well as
online. You can view it here. See him in it as Cowboy #3. Currently, he has two
completed screenplays in different stages of production, and a stage play he plans on
producing before the end of 2008.
     Michael is active in live theater around Los Angeles as an actor, writer, set designer
and director. He is either a member or collaborator with these L.A. theater companies;
Friends and Artists, Sidewalk Studio, Skypilot, Stages of Fullerton, and Sight Unseen.

     Aside from the world of acting, Michael is an accomplished woodworker/furniture
maker,. He resides in E. Hollywood, California, and enjoys traveling the lost roads of
the American West with his girlfriend, Danuta Tomzynski.
